Homemade Ice-Cream

Vanilla Base:

6 Cups 2% Milk
2 Cups Sugar
1/4 tsp Salt
2 TBSP Instant Vanilla Pudding
4 Cups Heavy Cream
1 TBSP Vanilla

Mix together milk, sugar and salt. Better to put together the day before. Sugar needs to dissolve and all ingredients should be chilled.

I save empty milk jugs to put together the ice cream mixture.

Just before churning add cream, pudding mix and vanilla.

 

Flavor Variation:
Fresh Mint Chocolate Chip

Heat milk, sugar and salt over low heat with a generous amount of fresh mint. Bring to boil. Take off heat, steep for about an hour.

Strain.  Chill.

Add cream, dream whip and vanilla.

Half way through churning, add mini chocolate chips.  I didn’t have any “mini” chocolate chips, so I pulverized frozen dark chocolate chips in my spice and nut grinder.
